Yesterday

Yesterday I recieved a note of encouragement that I'll probably keep for the rest of my life. Wow.

Easily entertained.

I love typing really loud on the keyboard down in the computer lab section of the library. I get such a kick out of it...

Sleeeepy...

I'm working at Doane Desk right now. It's Saturday morning. I'm reading. And sleeping. At the same time. Figure that one out. Gosh, I hate when I doze off.

I want to get a chunk of homework done at the desk this morning, because then I can enjoy my Sunday without any work (or oppressive burden of unfinished assignments of the near future). I go out to Downers Grove from 9 AM to 9 PM (a rounded estimate) on Sundays. No homework would be nice. Next week I only have 2 days of classes because it's Missions Conference baby!

Now, if I could only get this wonderful reading done. I say wonderful because it really is. I'm reading up on the book of Daniel. But I'm sleepy.

zzzzzzzz...

Life so far...

Since my trip to Minnesota, I've gotten in the groove of school. No class has captivated me more than "Romans" with Dr. Peterman (though "Systematic Theology 2" with Dr. Zuber comes in a close perspective). We're learning different interpretations to Romans and it's stretching my brain as I try to understand how to dialogue about the different theologies out there. What can we take away from them? What should we leave behind. What is God trying to SAY?! I want to be faithful to the Word. Let me have ears to hear the truth.

Last weekend I went on Senior Retreat. What a blast! Basically, Moody planned to have NOTHING planned for Senior Retreat. We were dropped off at this resort-like camp and given freedom for 2 whole days. We were not responsible for going to any sessions (though they were there for us should we choose to take part), and we could stay out and sleep in as late as we wanted. We were right on the lake with lots of back woods trails to explore. There was canoing and beach volleyball and lookout towers over the lake. I read on the banks of Green lake and caught up with some friends.

I also partook in several pranks at retreat between the guys and girls. A group of us went for a walk the first night and found a seagulls head on the side of the road (I know, random). So we brought it back to the lodge (Brianna was the brave one who picked it up between two leaves) and gave it annonymously to the room next door to mine (a group of girls). During the second night, Justin, Russ, Zi, and I hid along the backwood trails and scared people as they took walks. Wow, we had fun.

After this, I returned to reality and school. On Thursday the Men's choir had their summer tour chapel and I felt that it went really well. It was really fun to put it together. We sang "Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation", "Mick Mcguire", "For the Longest Time", and "The Lord's My Shepherd." Justin's slideshow/video was a major hit. I'm so proud of our group. They are a great group of guys. Today, we are going on our fall social. 5 hours at a park cooking ribs and chicken and playing football and frisbee. What more could you want?

PS - This is me at the new "ING cafe". It's a online bank that has a location close to Moody. Free wireless and free drinks on Friday if you wear orange. SCORE!

Rest

This weekend was unexpectingly restful. I went to Minnesota for my Aunt's wedding. Around noon on Friday, my brother and sister-in-law picked me up and we traveled to White Bear Lake, Minnesota. I lived there until I was 6 years old. When we came to my old neighborhood, memories were firing off in my head (like at the intersection where I first learned my lefts and rights). I got to see the house I lived in. I hadn't seen it since I left. Wow. Weird.

On Saturday, we went to the Mall of America (or what I always remember it as - "The Mega Mall"). I got a new pair of jeans because most of mine by now have holes in them and I'm not up to Moody dress code. That was nice. On Sunday, we went to John Pipers church and enjoyed GREAT preaching. Piper spoke about the tower of Babel and how God, thoughout history, has used the sins of mankind to glorify Himself. Just think - instead of having one monolithic culture on this planet, we have hundreds! And in the end, hundreds of different languages and people groups will be worshiping 1 God. Why don't I tremble when I think of this? This is so cool!

I got back today and I was motivated to work hard on my homework. This is evidence that I've gotten rest. I'm excited to finally start this semester. I guess part of that is getting off the computer and getting some sleep. So...good night!
